Band Member Bio’s
Libby Files
is from Hedgesville, WV. She learned to play the guitar at the age of 12 but did not play with other performers until many years later. In 1997, she joined the Baxter Hollar Band as their bass player. In 2000, the Baxter Hollar band dissolved and was reformed as the band currently known as The Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band. In 2001, Libby became the manager and has held that title since. Libby sings lead and harmony on most of the arrangements. One of the many hats that Libby wears is also one of soundperson. She enjoys entertaining for her loyal fans. Libby’s career has been influenced by her father, Rhonda Vincent, Doyle Lawson, and the Osborne Brothers.Darrell Sanders
resides in Martinsburg. Darrell taught himself to play the banjo at a very young age by watching other banjo pickers like the late Andy Boarman. Everyday he would take his banjo up on the railroad tracks near his home and practice playing. At the age of 17, he entered a banjo competition and won! In the late 70’s through the late 80’s, he performed with Bill Harrell and the Virginians and made several recordings. He also played with Charlie Moore and The Dixie Partners. In the mid 90’s, he was one of the founding members of the Scott Brandon Band. He also has several recordings with Buzz Buzzby. Darrell joined Stoney Creek in 2003. In addition to his banjo talent, he is also the master on the dobro. Anyone who has heard Darrell play will testify that he is one of the best banjo players on the circuit. Darrell also sings harmony vocals on many of our arrangements. Stoney Creek is proud to have him as one of their members.Ron Hazlett,
also from Martinsburg, has been playing the guitar for as long as he can remember. Ron’s talent has led him to play all instruments. He sings lead and harmony on many of the vocals. Ron has played with many local country and bluegrass bands. Ron was also the banjo player for the original Baxter Hollar Band. Along with Libby, Ron is a founding member of the Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band. Ron is a walking dictionary when it comes to the history of bluegrass (and country) music. Ron has also written a few songs. Ron brings many great ideas and songs to our portfolio.Stan Connelly
comes to us from Frederick, Maryland. Stan learned to play the mandolin when he was a teenager. Stan can also play the guitar and fiddle. He has also performed with many local country and bluegrass bands. Stan joined Stoney Creek in 2000. Along with his talent, he often brings comedy to the Stoney Creek stage. Stan is a very strong lead and harmony vocalist. We can always count on Stan to keep our shows lively!Wayne Masters
is from Clear Spring, Maryland. Like all of our members, he learned to play (the fiddle) at a very young age. Not only can Wayne play a mean fiddle, he can also build a fiddle from scratch. Wayne’s talent also includes playing the guitar and mandolin, but his passion is the fiddle. Wayne joined Stoney Creek in 2001. Wayne may be the oldest member of the Stoney Creek Bluegrass Band, but he is one of the liveliest when he kicks his fiddle in high gear! Wayne has performed as a fiddler with many local country and bluegrass bands. Anyone can see that Wayne loves to perform!Booking Information
